Green Y® Master Certification

A Green Y Master is recognized for demonstrating the ability to reduce risk in the product and process development cycle.  A Green Y Master has been recognized for demonstrating the ability to develop, execute and communicate strategy in a variety of technologies. A Green Y Master has also demonstrated the ability to coach and develop others.  To earn certification the successful candidate must be certified as both a Red X® Journeyman and a Green Y Journeyman, demonstrate proficiency with all tools in the Journeyman toolbox and have coached at least two individuals, one to Red X Journeyman and the other to Green Y Journeyman.

Prerequisite:

Master candidates must be certified as both a Red X Journeyman and a
Green Y Journeyman and have completed all tools in the Journeyman toolbox (Master's toolbox).

Course Requirements:

Shainin Master (3 days)

Skill Requirements:

  • Obtain knowledge and skills in both the reactive and proactive technologies as demonstrated through certification as both a Red X Journeyman and a Green Y Journeyman.  All tools listed in Journeyman toolbox but not previously submitted in Journeyman certification (Master's toolbox).
  • Coach one individual to Red X Journeyman certification.
  • Coach one individual to Green Y Journeyman certification.

Submission Requirements:

Shainin certification emphasizes the demonstration of developed skills rather than the accumulation of knowledge.

After attaining both Journeyman certifications, Green Y Master candidates must coach projects in both the reactive and proactive technologies to develop one Red X Journeyman candidate and one Green Y Journeyman candidate.  Coaching cannot start until successful completion of the Master class.  The projects must be completed using the FACTUAL™ and FUNCTIONAL™ templates in a concise technical report presenting the strategy, evidence, reasoning, and lessons learned that resulted in successful project completion in accordance with certification standards.  A Master must also submit a toolbox demonstrating proficiency with key tools.  This work may be demonstrated as individual tools or as part of the candidate's own project submissions.

Endorsement:

To attain Master certification, a candidate must be endorsed by a Shainin consultant through an interview.  The consultant will assess the candidate's proficiency in the following areas: strategy development, use of advanced tools, and the ability to coach and develop others.

Time Limit:

A candidate has 24 months from certification as both a Red X and Green Y Journeyman to attend the Master class and develop two Journeymen (one Red X Journeyman and one Green Y Journeyman, who cannot be the same person as the Red X Journeyman).
